Following the news that President Rodrigo Duterte has given away one hundred million pesos to patients of the state-owned Philippine General Hospital, a netizen expressed her dismay at how the media focuses only the extrajudicial killings of Duterte’s drug war and not on his accomplishments for the poor.
Girlie Sagadal of the University of the Philippines College of Law said on her Facebook page that it is ironic that the President is being painted as a killer when he does so much for the people in need.
“And this from a vulgar, potty-mouth of a President who says “I will kill you” to druglords & looked down upon by moralists & the elitista,” she said.
Sagadal said that her son works as an intern in PGH and that a patient who suffered from an accident was brought to them by bystanders and not his kin because the hospital funds medical treatments of patients without fuss.
“NAKAKAIYAK, that we have a President who deeply cares for the poor & all the intl press focuses on is the alleged EJKs,” she said.
