The Iglesia Ni Cristo is endorsing 10 administration candidates and two bets supported by the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) for senator in the May 13 elections.
DZRH broadcaster Cesar Chavez on Tuesday (May 7) revealed the names of the politikos who got Iglesia Ni Cristo’s much coveted endorsement.
They are: Senators Grace Poe, Cynthia Villar, Sonny Angara and Nancy Binay; former Special Assistant to the President Bong Go, former Philippine National Police chief Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa, former Presidential Adviser on Political Affairs Francis Tolentino, former senators Jinggoy Estrada, Lito Lapid and Bong Revilla, Taguig City Rep. Pia Cayetano and Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos.
Of the 12 candidates, Poe and Lapid are endorsed by NPC while the rest belong to the slate of either PDP-Laban or Hugpong ng Pagbabago.
Iglesia Ni Cristo did not endorse any candidate from the opposition slate Otso Diretso.
Chavez’s revelation of the candidates endorsed by Iglesia Ni Cristo comes a day before the religious sect is rumored to release the sample ballot containing their names.
Iglesia Ni Cristo, which counts millions of believers worldwide, is known for voting as a bloc during the elections. However, there’s no data as to how many followers heed the religious sect’s list of preferred candidates.
