President Rodrigo Duterte made it known on Thursday that he isn’t a fan of “Senator” Harry Roque.
As Palace Spokesperson Roque keeps the public guessing on his Senate bid, Duterte was quite sure he isn’t going to win.
“Hindi ka mananalo riyan,” he told during the dinner with the Philippine Military Academy Alumni Association, Inc. “‘Yung mga sundalo, ayaw sa iyo.”
The numbers don’t lie either, as the latest Pulse Asia survey predicted Roque to land the 29th to 36th spots in the 2019 midterm elections slated on May 13.
Duterte instead said Roque should just stay put.
“Tama ka na. Standby ka. Bigyan kita ibang trabaho,” he said.
Roque had remained mum on whether he’ll run for the Senate, but had pointed at Communications Assistant Secretary Queenie Rodulfo as his successor should he step down.
“It would not be proper for a spokesperson to talk about political plans,” Roque told in a press briefing yesterday.
The filing of the certificates of candidacy is on Oct. 11-12 and 15-17.
