DPWH to finish P27-million FMRs in Biliran before the year ends

The reconstruction of about 2.7-kilometer farm-to-market (FMR) road projects in Biliran Province by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will provide abundant opportunities to our local farmers and producers.

Funded under the 2018 Convergence Program of DPWH and the Department of Agriculture (DA), DPWH Biliran District Engineering Office implemented P27-million worth of road concreting of five (5) FMRs that will help in boosting agricultural productivity in the towns of Caibiran, Cabucgayan, Almeria, and Naval.

According to DPWH-Biliran District Engineer David P. Adongay Jr., to date, on-going FMR projects include the concreting of 500-meter FMR to connect Barangay Matanggo to Sitio Patag in Barangay Tabunan, town of Almeria; 500-meter FMR at Sitio Canumay in Barangay Baso, town of Cabucgayan; 500-meter FMR at Sitio Libtong Gamay, Barangay Libtong, town of Naval, each amounting to P5-million.

DPWH has already completed the concreting of 500-meter FMR connecting Barangay Kaulanguhan to Kawayanon in the town of Caibiran with budget amounting to P5-million.

Meanwhile, DPWH-Biliran DEO has also completed the concreting of 700-meter FMR from Barangay Haguikhikan to Sitio Rosales in the town of Naval amounting to P7-million, which is funded under the FY 2016 Yolanda Restructuring Program.

Farm-to-market roads are priority projects of the Department in the mountainous province of Biliran which can support various agricultural crops such as rice and other high-value crops traditionally grown in cool highlands.
