Earlier this week, the whole social media community was inspired by the story of a student who received meaningful help from the driver of the jeepney he boarded.
Young John Erick Ami shared how a jeepney driver spared him from paying his fare because he lost his wallet. The driver’s kindness did not end there as he even handed him P30.00 so he could go home. This simple act touched John Erick and a lot of the members of the social media community as his post hit more than 320,000 Facebook reactions and almost 60,000 shares.
The jeepney driver was unaware that his kind act would change so much of John Erick’s perception in life.
In a separate post, the student once again shared his second encounter with the driver who helped him. They did not expect that they would see each other again. John Erick became very emotional because he knew deep in his heart that he learned something very important from this particular interaction. He repaid him by treating him to a fast food restaurant because the driver refused to accept his payment.
The driver then said that helping others should be done willingly. How you will get paid depends on the person you helped.
“Yung pag tulong dapat kusa yan, pag may nangangailangan ibibigay mo, bahala na sila kung lolokohin ka nila,” the driver said to him.
John Erick then realized the importance of helping other people in any way that you can. He also claimed that poverty and lack of material things should never be a hindrance in doing kind deeds.
Many netizens were also amazed by manong driver’s values and commitment to helping other people. Though he lives a simple life, he was still able to impart something very important to somebody else.
